Santa Claus and his Plaid Elves spread cheer across Caerphilly

Santa Claus has been getting a great reception on his travels around Caerffili, courtesy of his Plaid Caerphilly elves.

Visiting primarily around Caerffili Town, Santa (Councillor and Mayor Mike Prew) and his little helpers Councillors Colin Elsbury, Simon Morgan and Jeff Grenfell have been attempting to spread some much-needed Christmas cheer - socially distanced of course!

On Thursday 17th December,  Santa visited Lawrence Street, Caerbragdy, Bedwas Road, Meadowland Close, Nantgarw Road, Heol Trecastell, Bryncenydd, Bondfield ParkLon y Llyn, Watford Road, Bryngwyn, Watford Farm, Watford Park, Maes Watford, Beech Tree Avenue, Beech Tree View, St Martins Estate

From today onwards, Santa and his elves will visit:

Friday 18th December - Lon y Llyn, Watford Road, Bryngwyn, Watford Farm, Watford Park, Maes Watford, Beech Tree Avenue, Beech Tree View, St Martins Estate

Sunday 20th December - Mountain Road, Warren Drive, Corbett Crescent, Princes Avenue, Dan y Coed, Underwood, Railway Terrace, Kind Edward Avenue, Bronrhiw, St Martins Road

Monday 21st December - Pontygwindy Road, Kingsmead
On the evening, there may be slight alterations if the Sleigh cannot get into some streets due to parked cars etc.

Should Santa happen to visit your street in the next few days, there are a few things that you need to do, though, to keep yourselves extra safe:

1. Please stay on your doorsteps/in your gardens and wave to Santa as he passes. Santa won’t be able to stop to talk to anyone this year, as that nasty virus is still with us and Santa doesn’t want to put anyone at risk!

2. Santa's Sleigh may not be able to get into some streets, as they’re a bit narrow and the Sleigh is a bit long and can't turn around in the cul-de-sacs. But if Santa can’t come into your street you can come to see him at the end of your street to see him as he passes. PLEASE remember all the social distancing rules - stand 2m apart from other people who are not from your household and do not gather in a crowd.

3. Santa won’t be giving out gifts/sweets due to COVID-19 risks, but we’re sure that you’ll all receive plenty from Santa when he visits on Christmas Eve.

4. Please feel free to take photos and videos of Santa as he passes! Due to social distancing, Santa won’t be able to have individual photos with you this year, so make sure you snap him as he travels by!
