Public toilets in three Caerphilly county parks will remain open until the new year, a move welcomed by Plaid Cymru.
The loos at Ystrad Mynach Park, Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly and Waunfawr Park, Crosskeys were reopened in August after a campaign by Plaid Cymru councillors.
In an email to councillors, Parks Operations Manager Jonathan Davies, said: “For your information. In light of the increased public use of our parks for exercise and for just getting out of the house throughout this pandemic, we are continuing to maintain open our public toilets provision (seven days a week) at Ystrad Mynach Park, Waunfawr Park and Morgan Jones Park until the new year.”
Councillor Colin Mann, who represents Llanbradach ward, said: “We were convinced back in the summer that the toilets in our parks could be opened safely and that has been proven.
“I’m very pleased that they will now be open until the new year because of increased use. As the officer stated more and more people are using our parks to take exercise and keep fit during the pandemic. It is good that the situation has been recognised and responded to.”
